Uni 4 Bus Service
New arrangements for the Addenbrooke's Hospital-Silver Street-West Cambridge Site-Madingley Road Park & Ride Bus Service, previously named the Citi4, came into effect from Monday 24 July 2006:
- The name of the service was changed to the 'Uni4', to recognise the University's on-going support for the bus
- The service runs at a 20 minute frequency throughout the day (four buses at peak times and three buses off-peak)
- The three 'full-time buses' display the University crest and name and a Uni4 logo
- A 50p fare for any single journey along the route of the Uni4 bus is payable by University Card holders. A fare was introduced due to the fact that operating costs have increased significantly in recent years, and because the County and City Councils' funding support will expire.
- Uni4 buses now run on the May Day and Late Spring Bank Holidays
The timetable for the new Uni4 bus between Addenbrooke's Hospital-Silver Street-West Cambridge Site-Madingley Road Park & Ride is available for download via the MCR website.
Please note that the old number 14 bus has been renamed 'Citi4' - so don't get confused!
The Citi 4 and the new University supported Uni4 buses are coordinated to follow the same route between Trumpington Street and the West Cambridge Site, where they provide a combined 10-minute service frequency . Remember to look out for the Uni4 bus from Monday 24 July if you want to use the Addenbrooke's Hospital-Silver Street-West Cambridge-Madingley Road Park & Ride service and obtain a subsidised fare.
50p Fares Trial
The bus operator Stagecoach has agreed, for a trial period from 1 October to 31 December 2006, to offer discounted fares of 50p/single journey to University staff and students, on presentation of a valid University Card, on the following bus services:
- Citi1 Arbury - City Centre - Train Station - Addenbrooke's - Cherry Hinton - Fulbourn
- Citi2 Milton - City Centre - Addenbrooke's
- Citi3 Cherry Hinton - Train Station - City Centre - Fison Road
- Citi4 Cambourne - West Cambridge - City Centre
- Citi5 Bar Hill - City Centre
- Citi6 Oakington - Girton - City Centre
- Citi7 between Histon - City Centre - Stapleford only (50p fares are not available on the Citi7 between Cottenham & Histon or between Saffron Walden & Stapleford)
Stagecoach will then make an assessment of the commercial success of the trial before deciding whether to maintain discounted fares on these services in the future.
Please note that the discounted fare of 50p/single journey on the Uni4 bus between Madingley Road Park & Ride site and Addenbrooke's Hospital will be maintained as usual and is not subject to this trial.
