Committee Nominations for 2012
Use this page to submit nominations for the MCR Committee Elections for 2012. There are eleven positions on the MCR committee that suit different talents and skills. Each position involves different responsibilities, although in the end you'll work as a team most of all to make important decisions about college representation and Downing graduate activities. It is a very rewarding experience and if you're interested in getting more involved with graduate life at Downing and finding out how exactly college works you should definitely be thinking about running for one of the following positions:
- President
- Vice-president
- Treasurer
- Social Secretary (there are usually two)
- Welfare Officer
- Bar, Sports and Amenities Officer
- Equal Opportunities Officer
- Environmental Officer
- Communications Officer
- International Officer
If you're interested in any of these, there is more information on the website, but the best thing to do is just email the current officers personally (you can find their email addresses on the website). They will be able to tell you about what the job actually entails, time commitments and whatever else you might want to know.
Nominations are open until midnight on the 29th of November, Hustings will be on the afternoon of the 27th. Elections will take place on the 1st of December, before the Christmas Dinner.
You must provide a proposer and a seconder for your nomination. When you fill in and submit this form, an email will be sent to the MCR committee, yourself, your proposer and seconder with details. If you don't get this email, your proposal probably hasn't been received.
You will also need to submit a manifesto, detailing why you would make a suitable candidate and what you would like to do as an MCR officer other the next year. You don't need to send it at the same time as your nomination. Just email a PDF or pigeon-hole a paper copy to the President.
